Now for January We looked at 'Jesus in the temple' when Jesus was young he grew up to have a faith of his own. there were great crafts made and the food was excellent, what more could we ask for thanks everyone for your time and our guests well, were fantastic.
In February the theme for this month was 'Jesus' Baptism' we explored what it means to belong to the family of God. Our crafts followed this theme so everyone got creative and really got into the crafts and games.
Now in March we thought about 'Jesus's temptation' when Jesus was grown up and decided it was time to begin his work and was tempted in the desert to abandon his mission. The craft and the food were beautifully produced, well done to our great team of helpers. Well done.
We followed this in April with 'The Easter Story' – to follow the story of the end of Jesus’ life and the new beginning of Easter Sunday Morning when he rose from the death into victory. The high standard of the crafts which the children and adults created were excellent and it goes without saying, but I will, the catering staff produced some great food!
We come to May now when our theme was 'Jesus on the mountain' – finding out what happened when Jesus went up the mountain and ascended to heaven. We met over in the school so that we could build a mountain with the climbing apparatus. The celebration was good fun and was followed by great food over at the church.
In June our Messy Church was on Pentecost Sunday, the theme being 'Who is the Holy Spirit'. We heard about the promise from Jesus that he will never leave us alone and that he will send us another helper, the Holy Spirit. As always the games and the crafts were great and the food was brilliant. Thanks again to all the teams that made it possible.
In July we learnt about prayer, our theme was 'The Lord's Prayer'. with a focus on the prayer Jesus gave us to help us talk to 'our father in heaven' This month we held the event at Milborne Port Primary School with a BBQ and a variety of sports and games on the school field. Thanks as always to the teams that made it all possible, the great crafts, the games and as always the food. We are looking forward to the next one in September after a well earned break. Fantastic!
September was the time when we celebrated our 'Harvest' Harvest is a
time of thanksgiving it’s an opportunity to thank God for the crops and the
fruit of the ground, which, despite all our clever technological advances, we
are still dependent. It's a big thank-you for the food we eat and for its variety. Once more we thank the catering team, the craft team and all those who help make it so enjoyable.
Well what did we do in our October Messy Church? Our theme was 'light up the darkness', Jesus said, "I am the light of the world" and he wants his light to shine in every one of us. He wants us to show his love and goodness and care to everyone around us. We are not the light, but we should reflect his light in our lives. Wow now there's a challenge. Everyone enjoy the games and also the crafts, as usual we ended our time together with food; great wonderful food. Thanks to the teams who made it all possible.
In November the theme was 'Remember Me' where we all thought about the significance of Remembrance Sunday and those who gave their lives that we may live in freedom. We recalled how Jesus gave up his life so that the whole world may be reconciled to God his Father that we may live in freedom today, Freedom from all that we do wrong and the hurt we have caused, Jesus died that we will have a way to find forgiveness and reconciliation. Thanks to all the teams for their help in making it all happen.
In December we celebrated 'Messy Christmas' The four weeks before Christmas are known as Advent and it is a special time for us as we prepare our hearts for the message of Christmas. We looked forward to the birth of Jesus, the Son of God. Great! The teams reacted well to the challenges of preparing fun crafts, good food, as always thanks to all of you.
